Jakarta, NU Online
The World Muslim Brotherhood Conference held by the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) over the weekend was closed by making recommendations, including the independence for Palestine in 2010. To gain the independence, participants of the conference called on the importance of holding talks between UN, US, Israel and Palestine.

"One of the participants' agreements of the conference is the Palestinian independence that should be realized by 2010. What having so far been conducted by Palestinians is war for gaining independence or struggle. They want to be free from any colonization," general chairman of PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi said.<>

He also said that the conference would always endorse Sunni and Shi'ite groups not to commit violence and extremism leading in turn to terrorism acts, adding that it should be differentiated between struggle and terrorism.

The conference was sponsored by the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization in collaboration with the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Iran.

The recommendations said that unity was the most fundamental thing for Muslims because any emerging dispute and hostility among Muslims has some of the time been caused by different schools of thought.

The conference also called on religious figures and ulema to take approaches and deepen collaborations with other Muslim groups. Various Islamic groups and schools of thought around the world should be capable of addressing their own dispute by having dialogues. (min)
