Ahead of the year end of 2009, the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has tried to reflect its "nature" by involving other parties to set measures in improving the organizational performance in coming years.
General chairman of PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi said that the reflection was aimed at finding feedback and suggestions as part of a series of programs prior to the NU 32nd congress which will reportedly be held in Makassar in March 2009.<>
"If reflection from NU to itself and from NU to the ummah (people) and the nation has always been conducted, even we have both meticulously and partially conducted each program of ours in such fields as education, health, problems deliberation (bahtsul masa'il), international, and social issues," Hasyim said here on Tuesday.
He said that PBNU deliberately invited NU figures from various disciplines and levels to at least have their comments and opinion about the Nahdliyin-based organization.
"This reflection is place where NU may reflect itself from opinion of others anywhere. We will later consider which (measures) that should be set by NU and which we consider as mere comments," he said.
Hasyim said, any coming feedback and suggestions would later be selected in accordance with the capacity of NU in realizing the feedback and suggestions.
"We will hear feedback from all elements and from all backgrounds in which there will possibly differences among them even in opposition. All this is necessary for NU to position itself, what should it do," Hasyim said.
The leader of Al Hikam Islamic boarding school said NU would warmly welcome all the feedback and suggestions including the weaknesses having so far remained existing in the body of NU.
He also expected the NU figures to help NU deal with the weaknesses, saying it was, again, possible for NU as a big religious social organization to have weaknesses.
"The more we address the weaknesses, the more clear we have the weaknesses," he said. (mkf)
