Members of the Anti-judicial Mafia Task Force are soon to be sent to the regions to deal with local case brokering practices, a spokesman said.

"The assignments in the regions will be carried out as soon as possible," the task force`s secretary, Denny Indrayana, said here on Saturday.<>

Denny said task force members would also meet with judicial experts and prominent figures to exchange views on how judicial mafias in Indonesia operate.

The task force would study and analyze case brokering practices and eventually design a strategy to eradicate the mafias through actions permitted under Indonesian law. People involved in the mafias would be given administrative or criminal sanctions, Denny said.

"We have already received many reports from members of the public, and will study them carefully," he said.

Earlier, Task Force chief Kuntoro Mangkusubroto vowed to root out all court mafias in the country regardless of whether they are members of high ranking officials` families or common people.

"I will do it and do not care who they are," Kuntoro said after a meeting with Attorney General Hendarman Supandji.

At the meeting the two officials discussed the need for close coordination and cooperation between the task force and the Attorney General`s Office (AGO) in the fight against judicial mafias.

"At the meeting we discussed a plan to formalize our cooperation and coordination with the AGO in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) so that, in case we meet a problem later, we can immediately get direct backup from the AGO," Kuntoro said.

Kuntoro said the AGO`s tasks would mainly be in the taking of actual repressive actions against case brokers while the task force would be more concerned with coordination, evaluation and monitoring.

"But we will also act in coordination with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the police," he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

Attorney General Hendarman Supandji meanwhile hoped the meeting would soon be followed up with the signing of the MOU. (dar)
