Relative confirms terror suspect Abu Dujana`s identity

A close relative of Abu Dujana, the top terror suspect arrested recently, has confirmed a picture police have publicized is that of Aenul Bakri, the name by which Abu Dujana was known as a child.

Yaya Sunarya (72), an uncle of Mrs. Syariah, Abu Dujana`s deceased mother, also said, after becoming an adult, Aen (short for Aenul) was often absent from his parental home but the family eventually realized he was involved in terrorist activity.<>

Yaya confirmed the correctness of the police file photo when interviewed by journalists in a house belonging to Abu Dujana`s family in Kampung Cisadang, Mandala Sari village, Sipatat sub district, Bandung district, on Wednesday.

He said although the family had not heard from Aen for a long time, they finally came to know he was implicated in terrorism, especially after another top teror suspect, Dr Azahari, was killed in a police raid some time ago.

"I was one-hundred percen sure, Aen, the prodigal son, was involved in terrorism. We knew from the newspapers. Yes, it was him. That`s correct, this is Aen," Yaya said while pointing a finger at the police photo of Abu Dujana journalists showed to him.

He said he knew Aen as a child who did not like talking much or mixing with other children but who was smart and patient. But he was later often called the prodigal son because he repeatedly left home without informing anybody where he would go to or, after he had gone, where he was.

When his mother, Mrs Syariah, died in February 2007, Aen was absent because nobody knew how or where to contact him. "So until today, he probably does not know that his mother died," Yaya was quoted by Antara as saying. (dar)
