Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board of Jember, East Java, KH Muhyiddin Abdussomad called on Nahdliyin (NU followers) to take into account of NU's educational institutions.
He said that the educational institutions had remained backward and the backwardness could be seen from the fact that many NU followers have yet to have high level of educational attainment and a large number of NU's schools have remained sleepy from enrolling students.<>
"We should jointly struggle for developing quality of NU's education," said KH Muhyiddin as addressing a Halalbihalal gathering held by the Big Family of Jember Islamic University (JIU) at the university's auditorium over the weekend.
He was of view that education was a main problem faced by Indonesian Muslim community especially NU followers as a majority. In this respect, he added, those commonly meeting such difficulties are Nahdliyin.
KH Muhyiddin said that developing educational quality was a must in facing increasing education competition. All this was aimed at attracting more prospective students. (ary)
