President hopes first day of Syawal can be seen October 11

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that the Idul Fitri festivity marking the first day of the Islamic month of Syawal could be known on October 11.
He made the statement in a press conference after a cabinet meeting on preparations for the Idul Fitri festivity at his office here on Wednesday.<>
"The exact determination of Idul Fitri day for 1428 H as often conducted every year will be announced a day before Idul Fitr," the head of state said.
According to him, a step to adopt a consensus and a number of approaches had been taken by the government.
"When the Idul Fitri festivity is to be celebrated, just wait till October 11," he was quoted as saying by the state news agency.
In the meantime, Muhammadiyah as the second largest Islamic organization in Indonesia has stated their stance to celebrate Idul Fitri on October 12, while Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization will announce it after a crescent-monitoring meeting to be conducted by the Religious Affairs Ministry on October 11.
