President asks minister to enhance workers' welfare

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed hope that the workers’ welfare should be improved in a bid to improve Indonesia’s national productivity, a minister said.

As reported by Antara news agency, Manpower and Trasmigration Minister Erman Suparno made the statement after meeting President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his Cikeas residence in Bogor on Sunday.<>

If the workers’ welfare has improved, they will work at maximum capacity, so that national productivity would also increase, the minister said.

On the occasion, the president also underlined the importance of improving the quality of industrial relations in a bid to improve the investment climate in the country, Erman added. (dar)
