Police pledge to arrest attackers of church leaders today

Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Imam Sugiarto is optimistic that his detectives will arrest the alleged perpetrators of the attack on two HKBP Church leaders today.
Imam said Monday a joint team, comprising detectives from the Bekasi Police and the Jakarta Police, formed by Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Timur Pradopo were hunting down the suspects.<<>br />
“We have identified the suspects. Inshallah [God willing] we will capture them today,” Imam said as quoted by kompas.com
Police have released the nine witnesses who were questioned in connection with the attacks.
HKBP leaders ST Sihombing and Rev. Luspida Simanjuntak were attacked on Sunday morning. Sihombing was stabbed in the stomach while walking with a small group of church members on their way to a Sunday service at the church in Ciketing area in Bekasi, West Java. Simanjuntak, who went to Sihombing’s aid, was struck on the head with a plank of wood.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the attacks and the arrest of the perpetrators. (dar)
