PBNU to cooperate with Ministry of Communication and Information

The Central Baord of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has cooperated with the Ministry of Communication and Information containing 9 aspects.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed here on Tuesday by general chairman of the country’s largest Muslim organization KH Hasyim Muzadi and Minister of Communication and Information Sofyan Djalil.<>

Vice Secretary of the nahdliyin-based organization Syaiful Bahri Anshori explained the collaboration was initiated by both sides in 2005 related to the anti-corruption programs.

Syaiful said in accordance with the views of several expert staffs of the ministry such as Dr Freedy and Prof Musa Asyari, the prospective collaboration would be purposefully extended within the frame of socializing programs dealing with education, information, and advocation.

“So how we educate public about public policies such as technology development, harmonization in regions full of conflict, advocation, dissemination, and socialization of handling bird flu and so on,” Syaiful said.

The former General Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Student Movement quoted the statement of KH Hasyim Muzadi that the collaboration was a favorable step in developing democracy and meeting the expected reform direction.

While Minister Sofyan Djalil expected the program can be such a means to eradicate stupidity of the Indonesia’s people so that they in turn are capable of understanding of the government’s policy and giving constructive advice upon any existing policies. (mkf)
