PBNU to cooperate with China

Foreign policies of the country's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama tend to be clear. The nahdliyin-based organization is now attempting to cooperate with China.

General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi Tuesday left for China on economic cooperation.<>

Hasyim said the cooperation was really important to increase economic sectors of the NU followers.

"I have such economic agenda with the businessmen of the country," the President of the World Conference of Religions for Peace said, adding that he would be in China till 9 Jun ahead.

Hasyim's visit was accompanied by Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU) Idy Muzayyad and numbers of IPNU's regional boards.

Hasyim said that China was a country in which its economy is continuing to grow rapidly and steadily. For that reason, he added, PBNU need to cooperate with the businessmen of the country.

"There are some businessmen in China willing to cooperate with NU. That's why, it would be useful for both sides," Hasyim said. (rif)
