Religion should substantially be used as a means to help its adherents deal with such human problems as poverty, stupidity, backwardness, education and so on.

"That is why, there should be such concrete steps from all parties including religious leaders in handling the various human problems," chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Masykuri Abdillah told NU Online here Monday (6/7).<>

According to Masykuri all religious leaders should take brilliant measures to increase "religious effectivity in formulating and building the global ethics."

Masykuri who recently attended the Third Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, Kazakhstan, said that the power of religious teachings should be solutions to various conflicts taking place around the world.

He also stressed the importance of religious leaders to have high global responsibility capable in turn of raising such a commitment of a new ethical union for all humans including states along with their elements.

Masykuri was of view that the possible emerging problem in terms of efforts to build the global ethics was there has still been a dominant civilization (West: read) over others.

Even, he said, the given paradox could be the main reason of voicing the global ethics. (dar)
