Scores of senior NU politicians will hold a meeting at the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) headquarters today (6/5) to share ideas in dealing with their parties' political moves in building the nation and their contribution to NU.
The politicians who will attend the much-awaited meeting are Jusuf Kalla (chairman of Golkar party), Muhaimin Iskandar (chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Suryadharma Ali (chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), Choirul Anam (chairman of the Ulema National Awakening Party (PKNU), Mubarok (deputy chairman of the Democratic Party) and many other NU politicians.<>
General chairman of PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi said that the meeting was initiated by PBNU to get more information from NU politicians in regard with their their political activities.
"We want to get information from them, what have they done so far to the nation and NU," Hasyim told NU Online on Tuesday (5/5).
Hasyim explained the meeting had nothing to do with the NU support to certain presidential hopeful. Rather it was aimed at, again and again, exploring information as well as giving directives to Nahdliyin (NU followers) in determining their choice in this year's presidential election.
"NU followers are given freedom, the problem is how the freedom can be used smartly and properly," Hasyim said, adding that PBNU would also invite presidential/vice presidential candidates to know their vision and mission in making the Indonesian people live in prosperity. (mkf)
