General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said here Sunday that the Corruption Eradication Commision of Indonesia was not eligible enough to realize an anti-corruption movement.

"I do understand, even appreciate the unpreparedness of the majority of the KPK leaders to register thmeselves as the Commission leaders for coming period, Hasyim said, adding that they were good men of the KPK whose no requirements to support anti-corruption movements.<>

Hasyim said, the recent commission's position could be considered as part of the power. In fact, up to now the KPK has just successfully targeted small corruptors or certain ones. This fact, he added, had made many being not interested in dealing with KPK leadership.

"Furthermore, the recent commission's selection has reportedly been selected by a minister," the caretaker of the AL Hikam Islamic boarding "Pesantren" school said.

Hasyim suggested due to the minister's hand of selecting officials of the respectful commission, the sense of the power had still remained. This would make the Indonesia's corruption eradication far from the much-awaited ideals.

He asserted if the corruption eradication in Indonesia could be maximized, the first and foremost measures to be taken were at least by "rising salary for civil servants and military, reordering bureaucracy, law enforcement and national consensus for cross-state institution." (rif)
