Newly appointed National Awakening Party (PKB) splinter group chairwoman Yenny Wahid has set a deadline for reconciliation between her group and PKB, suggesting an overhaul if the split can not be resolved by March.

“We may have to repackage the party [splinter group],” PKB splinter group congress chief executive Imron Rosyadi Hamid said Monday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.<<>br />
Yenny Wahid’s PKB group expressed hopes that the current PKB chairman Muhaimin would agree to rejoin them.

Meanwhile, Imron said “new packaging” did mean forming an entirely new party, because they would still adopt the same ideology, constitution and bylaws.

He also said he was optimistic that the new party would satisfy legal requirements.

“We are ready. [Party] branches and subordinate branches already exist across Indonesia,” Imron said. (jp/dar)
