Muslim World League delegation leaves for Thailand and Indonesia

A high ranking delegation from the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL), headed by its Secretary General Dr. Abdullah Al Turki, has left for Thailand as part of a two-nation tour that will also take them to Indonesia.
Dr. Al Turki and the accompanying delegation will take part in the function to celebrate granting of formal recognition for the Islamic University of Yala in the predominantly Muslim populated southern Thailand.<>
The MWL delegation will leave for Indonesia on June 30 where they will attend an international seminar on "Toward unification of Islamic curricula in the universities."
Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will open the conference, which is to be organized by the Islamic Universities' League.
Dr. Al Turki was quoted by IINA as saying that the conference is aimed at bringing closer of Islamic subjects being taught at Islamic universities, especially Islamic jurisprudence, Hadith, Islamic philosophy and interpretation of the Holy Quran.
The MWL delegation includes several senior scholars, who are also founder members of the league. They are Abdurahman Suwar Al Dahab, president of the Islamic Propagation Society of Sudan, Muhamamd Ijazul Haq, religious affairs minister of Pakistan, and Dr. Ahmad Hulail, chief justice of Jordan.
As reported by Antara news agecy, In Thailand, Dr. Al Turki was scheduled to hold talks with leaders of the Muslim community in Yala, and they include preachers, mosque imams and office bearers of Islamic societies and organizations.
He will attend a number of seminars and conferences to be organized by the Islamic societies in the province. The MWL delegation will also pay a visit to another Muslim Province of Pattani and will be briefed on the general situation of Muslims in the province, according to MWL sources.
Dr. Al Turki will visit a number of mosques and Islamic institutions in the Muslim provinces during their week-long visit. (dar)
