"They will go through Egypt from Latakia, Syria. They can't go in because of the hard negotiation processes," Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) Presidium, Joserizal Jurnalis told VIVAnews on Sunday, January 2, 2011.
The volunteers aim their mission at promoting blockade removal from the Gaza Strip. "Hopefully, they can go through Gaza within the next two to three days," he said.
Another MER-C volunteer, Agus, is also under special mission: running a campaign on hospital development in Gaza.
Jozerizal said the hospital construction processed is delayed due to various factors. "Available landplots are rare there," he said.
The caravan consists of 15 Asian countries including Iran, India, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Jordan, Kuwait and New Zealand.
However, the government of Egypt prohibits volunteers from Iran and Jordan to get in. According to Palestinian officers, the Cairo administration did not approve permission for Iran to send in 10 generators through the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, the caravan was scheduled to enter Gaza by December 27. (dar)
