General Chairman of the Advisory Board (Dewan Syuro) of the People Awakening Party (PKB) KH Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid has reminded the General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi not to interfere with the party's internal conflict.

"The PBNU has no such authority over the moves of the DPP PKB. That is because of two reasons. First the PBNU can not organizationally force the party's intentions. Second, the PBNU should ideally investigate its members whether they have done corruption," Gus Dur said a press release on Wednesday.<>

Formerly, Hasyim had said that the settlement of the party's internal conflict was out of his authority. He admitted that he could not do more and more although the PBNU had nursed the birth of the party.

"It's impossible for us to govern structural problems and policy of the PKB. That should be settled internally," Hasyim said as he received ten kyais (clerics) and former board members of the party throughout Java in which their post has been freezed by Gus Dur.

Respecting the freezing of 40 Branch Leaders Council (DPC) of the party across the country, Gus Dur argued that his party should be cleaned "from any money politics in any level to be part of democratization. For this respect, the struggle mission of PKB is placed."

On Tuesday, the ten kyais coming to the PBNU headquarters were KH Abdul Aziz Mansur,  KH Abdul Salam, KH Mas Nidzomuddin Haq, KH Mas Sais, Hj Churriyah Imron Hamzah,  KH Muhallili, KH A Wahid Umar, KH Muchlis Badruzzaman, KH Effendi Nurrudin, and M Ayub. (rif)
