The education expert of School of Education of Leeds University, Michael D. Wilson said here on Tuesday that as the education institutions, Islamic boarding “pesantren” schools should consider the importance of educational resources.
According to Wilson, there were three resources should be expectedly taken into account, namely human, material and financial.
“Human resources include all personnel such as the teaching staff, support staff in example office staff, technicians and care<>takers. Material resources include the building, equipment, furnishing, teaching materials and other learning resources. While, financial resources may be defined as the money available to purchase real resources,” he said.
Speaking before the NU delegates participating in a training of education management at Leeds University, Wilson explained that the process of resource management should ideally cover four distinct elements, namely obtaining resources, allocating resources, using resources, and evaluation and review.
Respecting the allocating resources, Wilson suggested that at the institutional level, “the key focus is how the resources are distributed to departments or other units for curriculum support.”
Wilson also explained matters dealt with evaluating and reviewing resource management.
Wilson was of view that “what is important to take into account is that the evaluation of the deployment of resources, including cost effectiveness and value of money.” (dar)
