"Because, religions with all their symbols and attributes are very sensitive when they are deemed contrary from their followers," he asked.
the minister said, citing example when drawing the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) as an expression of freedom, then the Islamic adherents would be angry.
Thus, Suryadharma Ali expressed hope that the FKUB takes initiative to promote its role and hold dialog to provide an understanding so that harmony among religious believers can be continuously maintained.
In responding to the expectation of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)'s head of religious affairs office, Suryadharma Ali said he will be present at the Okumune Easter celebration here on April 28.
The minister also explained that religious community, certainly have differences, diverse cultures and value systems.
He also hoped that the differences should not be contested, and diversity should be considered as a strength instead of weakness. (ant/dar)
