Nuril Anwar Maron Loano Islamic Boarding School (pesantren), Purworejo, Central Java succeeded in creating an android-based online recitation application called Santri Stream.

The 'Santri Stream' application was initiated as a forum for pesantren alumni to be able to attend online recitation activities in pesantren as well as a liaison between pesantren.

“The Nuril Anwar Foundation has several cottage units. That is why  it needs an application that connects the recitation activities from the main unit to other ones, so the idea came up to create a conventional radio channel. However, because the process of making conventional radios requires a lot of money, there is an initiative to use cloud systems to build streaming radios," the Master Trainer, M. Hidayatullah told NU Online, Friday (22/10/2021).

He said that the 'Santri Stream' application had main and supporting features that make it easy for its users.

"The main features are for streaming and listening to recitation activities while the supporting features include prayer schedules, request for recitation themes, and the NU Online news feed," Hidayat said.

Specifically, he added, compared to other platforms such as YouTube, the 'Santri Stream' application did not have certain advantages because it was made for the needs of pesantren.

“YouTube is not homemade and there are too many channels. While this is specifically designed for cottages and can be arranged according to their own needs,"the Deputy Chairman of the Central Java's IPNU Media Division (2016-2019) said.

Although there were problems due to the short time and adjustment of the competition time line, the application initiated by 6 people consisting of students, administrators, and alumni of the Pesantren Nuril Anwar was successfully completed within half a month.

Thanks to the 'Santri Stream' application, Pesantren Nuril Anwar won 3rd place in the 4.0 santri competition held by Rabithah Ma'ahid Islamiyah, the Central Board of Nadhlatul Ulama (RMI PBNU) in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) some time ago.

He hoped that the 'Santri Stream' application could reconnect alumni who want to take part in online pesantren recitations through the android channel.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Pesantren Nuril Anwar, Gus Muhtadi, said that this application was designed to optimize the Islamic da'wah of Ahlussunah wal Jamaah for students (santri) and alumni.

"This application could unify Nuril Anwar's extended family such as leaders, administrators, students spread across several units and alumni to be able to continue the Islamic da'wah of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah," he hoped.
