Ministry of Manpower bans foreigners to teach Theology

The Ministry of Manpower banned foreign workers to teach their religious theology in schools and universities, saying that his policy was aimed at preventing possibe radicalism in the country.<>
"We have to prevent any religious radicalism," Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri said recently. The move will avoid any idea of radicalism to emerge in religious institution.
The policy has been implemented for two months. It is regulated under the revised Regulation of Minister of Manpower no 40/2012. The ministry has cooperated with other related sectors, such as the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Every foreign teacher must also be able to speak Bahasa. "We have informed the regulation. We are monitoring the implementation," he said.
Currently, there have been some 64,000 foreigners teaching in Indonesia. Most of them are from Asia, such as China, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia.
