Khofifah: ISNU must has Gus Dur’s characters

The elected east Java governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, hoped the commitees and members of the Association of Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars (ISNU) had KH Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid’s characters

“What I want to say is, how to make ISNU characterized Gus Dur. One of his personification is, he is always thinking out of the box,” she said, Sunday (8/12).

The statement was delivered when she gave a speech on the inauguration and working meeting of the ISNU east Java regional commitee in Sidoarjo.

Khofifah, who is also member of the central governing board of ISNU, said, they, who were smart, creative, and bold that had the thinking beyond and out of the box, who made controbution in the future. 

“The out of the box thinking is needed to contribute to ISNU, wherever, include in east Java,” she said. 

She explained, currently, there were 672 professors and 6.000 doctors to be member of ISNU. Therefore, their expertises must be used to overcome problems in east Java. 
 
"We know  where poverty is, maternal and infant mortality rate as well,” she said. She hoped ISNU to take part in action or ideas, she continued. 

Not only that, Khofifah continued that, what need to be done was differentiation of the profession. “Hundreds of professors and doctors who joined ISNU, must differentiate their profession,” she explained.

Therefore, there were many expertises such as academics, entrepreneurs, military, police, and others. How could it be a substantive part of maintaining NU.

“Where every professions is still obedient and maintain to religion and NU,” she stressed. 

What also important was to greet NU followers in the bureaucracy.  "In my opinion, NU members in bureaucracy are lessen. In politics, it is more dominant. How can ISNU solve this problem,” she said, finished the speech.
