Ulema Council wants revision of uncensored film article in draft bill

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) said Wednesday it demanded a revision of draft bill on film that allows uncensored movies to be played in cinemas.
Elshinta radion station quoted MUI member Ma'ruf Amin that the draft bill on film was currently prepared by the Culture and Tourism Ministry.<>
"We report this problem to Vice President Jusuf Kalla," the Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Supreme Council said after a meeting with the Vice President.
While Kalla expected the MUI to be able to give such feedbacks and recommendations to the government.
NU Online reported that the MUI had called on the government to support the Film Censorship Board (LSF) and the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) in playing their roles. (tjp/dar)
