The leader of the country’s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said here on Monday that each of us should keep on guard against any transnational ideologies.
According to the leader of the Al Hikam Islamic boarding “Pesantren” school, the ideologies being able to threaten the integrity of the nation were not from the root of the culture of ours.<>
“Like Hizbut Tahrir, Ikhwanul Muslimin, Al Qaeda, and so on, allof them are parts of the international political movement. They tend to use the Islamic religion as the political ideology rather than the way of life,” Hasyim told reporters at the NU office, Jalan Kramat Raya 164 Jakarta.
For that reason, he added, if the ideology of the groups was implemented in Indonesia, it would not be again and again appropriate with the nation’s vision so in turn it would threaten the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Hasyim argued, the transnational ideologies had recently tended to be powerful in Indonesia. This fact could be seen through the tendency of some of regional administrations to enact such religious-based laws.
“This formalization should be immediately restricted. What should be then conducted is not the formalization but the substantialization of the religion,” Hasyim said, adding that the tendency of the regional administrations to implement the “syariah” was not only from Muslims but also from other religious community.
He further explained that to restrict the mushrooming of the ideology each of us should strengthen our won ideology namely Pancasila (Five principles).
“All political movements should be based on the Pancasila rather than others,” the Secretary General of the NU International Conference of Islamic Scholars said.
Hasyim also called on all Muslims in particular to promote such moderate Islamic movement as developed by the nahdliyin-based “NU” organization that “comes and develops in Indonesia”. (rif)
