He said the Global Peace Festival would be conducted on October 15-18, 2010 in Jakarta.
According to him, the Global Peace Festival would be a movement to voice peace and to create a new spirit among interfaith community in Asia-Pacific and even international world.
Said said that in the PBNU's view Indonesia is a country with various ethnics and religious communities.
"But unluckily, religious harmony has been tarnished by among others certain political interests and the interest of momentary ethnic group," Said Aqil said.
He said no religion in the world "teaches violence and radicalism but should have mutual respect and care."
He added that religious differences were also part of the civilization that should not be forced to confront with interfaith community.
"The beauty will emerge if the interfaith community have mutual respect and support in the globalization era," he said. (dar)
