Netherlands supports Iran right to use nuclear technology

The Netherlands Foreign Ministry Director General in Political Affairs Peter De Jovier in a meeting with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here Wednesday said his country has always believed that Iran has the right to use peaceful nuclear technology.

According to Foreign Ministry Media Department report, the Dutch diplomat described Iran-Netherlands relations "good" adding mutual consultations between officials of the two countries have been useful in promoting ties.<>

Expressing pleasure over negotiations between ElBaradei and Solana with Iran, the Dutch diplomat expressed hope that the positive report of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and continuation of negotiations between Iran and the agency would direct Iran's nuclear dossier to a suitable solution.

Referring to the positive role of Iran in Afghanistan and Lebanon, the Dutch official said, "Iran, in the light of of its interests with Afghan and Lebanese nations, has a constructive role in cooperation with them."

Foreign Minister Mottaki by referring to the outlook for the Iran-Netherlands ties said, "A good understanding and atmosphere have been provided for expansion of bilateral ties."

He added, "In our new approaches in interactions with Europe we are trying to balance our potentials with all European countries without concentrating on a few ones."

Irna news agency reported, Mottaki also expounded on regional developments concerning Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine. (dar)
