Lebanon`s Hizbullah Party has expressed a hope that Indonesia would continue its support for the Hizbullah struggle against the cruelty of Israel.

Indonesia, as a great country with abundant economic resources, could effectively play a role in supporting Islamic countries and the Hizbullah in the struggle against the Israeli occupation and the hegemony of the United States of America, Head of the Hizbullah Foreign Relations Department Nawaf al-Mussamawi said here on Monday in an interview with Indonesian journalists.<>

The participation of Indonesian troops in the United Nations (UN) peace keeping force in South Lebanon represented Indonesia?s support toward the struggle of Hizbullah against Israel, he said.

Mussamawi said that his group would continue its fights against the occupation of Israel and the hegemony of some Western countries masterminded by the US.

He said that Hizbullah was currently fighting to free the Lebanese people from political pressures being carried out Israel and the US.

He emphasized that the Lebanese people and groups must be united in the fight against Israel. A unity of the Lebanese people was a significant factor for winning the fight, apart from supports other Muslim countries such as Indonesia, he said.

"Our struggle is clear, namely to end the occupation of Israel in Lebanon. It?s of course not easy, especially because the Lebanon people sometimes agreed on one thing, but another time they disagreed on another thing," he was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.

He reiterated that supports from Muslim countries such as Indonesia was very crucial for the struggle of Hizbullah against Israel.

"Therefore, we hope that the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Lebanon could be more intensified in the future. We learn a lot from Indonesia, especially how to be free from colonialism," Mussamawi said. (dar)
