The caretaker of the Roudlatut Tholibin Islamic boarding "Pesantren" school, Rembang, Central Java, KH Mustofa "Gus Mus" Bisri would assemble ulema and clerics of pesantrens throughout Indonesia.
The purposeful forum would be held on 22 May ahead at Pesantren Al Mubarok, SeMedono, Pekalongan, was initiated by the most-respected ulema such as Habib Luthfy bin Ali Yahya, KH Mahfudl Ridlwan, and KH Dimyathi Rois.<>
The scheduled meeting would be the third one. Formerly, the similar forum participated by around 700 clerics of pesantrens and tarekats across the country was held at the Pesantren Roudlatut Tholibien, Leteh, Rembang on 8 April 2006 and that was held at the Pesantren Edi Mancoro, Semarang on 10 February 2007.
Gus Mus told the NU news portal contributor, Abd Muiz as saying that the meeting willing take up issues on especially ulema as the main figures for the nation.
The forum would reportedly discuss such efforts to strengthen the communication between pesantrens' and tarekats' ulema and would also discuss the roles played by ulema in dealing with the order of the nation.
Gus Mus, who is also the member of Advisory Body of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), said the meeting would also discuss the measures taken by ulema in integrating their dissenting opinions in addressing the demands of the people (ummat).
The ulema gathering, Gus Mus added, would be expectedly opened by the Minister of Religious Affairs Maftuch Basyuni.
A number of prominent men such as the Governor of Central Java, H Mardianto and former Minister of Religious Affairs, KH Tolchah Hasan would be reportedly present at the occasion.
The organizing committee chief, KH Zakaria Ansor said that there were crucial matters that should be taken into account by ulema as the people's servants (khodimul ummah) to be such models in any areas, namely moral (akhlaq karimah), economy (iqtishadiyah), and social affairs (ijtima'iyyah. (rif)
