East Java's Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) will soon gather a number of nahdliyin senior figures across the province at a meeting. The senior figures that would be participated in the meeting are former NU activists coming from any backgrounds whose deeply concern over the struggle of the country's largest Muslim organization.
The meeting initiated by the Advisory Council of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Muchith Muzadi would be held in the East Java's NU office, located on Jalan Masjid Al Akbar Timur 9 Surabaya on coming 23 July.<>
Around 32 figures will participate in the meeting. They are former activists of the Hizbullah, Indonesian Muslim Trade Union (Sarbumusi), Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor), Ansor's paramilitary wing (Banser), journalists and former members of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
All participants are the NU senior figures coming from regencies in East Java such as Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Malang, Lumajang, Jember, Nganjuk, Blitar, Trenggalek and so on.
Kiai Muchith said there was no such special agenda but a merely communication forum (silaturrahim).
"Hopefully, we that are old would still devote our energy to the NU," Kiai Muchith told NU Online in his residency in Jember on Sunday, adding though their contribution was merely giving feedback to the nahdliyin-based organization.
Kiai Muchith said, the participants would purposefully be expected to give feedback and suggestion to the recent NU boards on account of their experience in comparing NU conditions in the past to the present.
According to Kiai Muchith, the NU figures had all of the time examined the NU journey from day after day. They had been again and again whipping up the spirit of service to the NU struggle.
"On account of the old age factor, far distant residency, brittle power and financial weakness, they could no longer freely move," " Kiai Muchith said.
While the former member of the Hizbullah Kapten H Ghufron Na'am expressed his grateful to the East Java's NU for giving opportunity to the NU senior figures to meet at the much-awaited forum.
"I hope, other friends would also be present (at the gathering)," the close friend of KH A Wahib Wahab, the Volunteer Homeland Defense Army (PETA)'s Shondanco said. (sbh)
