A retired military officer has cut his own monthly retirement salary to help NU followers (Nahdlaiyin) for having no income to have NU membership cards (Kartanu).<>
"It does not matter, my retirement salary is cut to help Nahdliyin have Kartanu," board member of NU chapter of Mojolaban, Mulyatno said.
His statement came out in front of about 200 representatives from the sub-district and district NU boards, NU institutions and autonomous bodies on the sidelines of a meeting to socialize the Kartanu program initiated by the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board (PWNU) of Central Java at the Secretariat of Qodariyah Naqsabandiyah sufi order (TQN ), Jl. Pemuda 37A, Jetis, Sukoharjo, on Tuesday (7/8).
Yusuf Bachtiar, member of PWNU team explained there were several functions of Kartanu, such as developing NU database, defferentiating from non-NU members, anticipating outside parties willing to disturb NU and the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), developing NU human resounces and protecting NU assets in addition to providing data for various programs, ranging from village boards to the central levels.
To succeed the Kartanu program being capable of reaching villages, there should be individuals named to be chairman, secretary, Treasurer, field coordinator and socialize team.
Present also at the occasion were, among others, chairman of NU Branch Board of Sukoharjo H Nagib Sutarno, secretary of PCNU Lasimin, advisory board members such as KH Maksum Waladi, KH Najib Muhammad, Kiai Baidlowi, KH Bambang Eko Wardoyo and many others representing NU institutions, committees, and autonomous bodies.
