PBNU's views on Ahmadiyah

Jum, 9 Mei 2008 | 04:53 WIB

The following are the official views of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) on Ahmadiayh on 9-11 September 2005 in Bogor, West Java:

1. Ahmadiyah is a deviant sect and out of the pale of Islam for not recognizing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger of Allah as clearly explained in the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the consensus of ulema. Though it is a true fact, people may not commit such anarchic acts to the activities of Ahmadiyah. The ban on Ahmadiyah teachings and activities is fully in the hand of government and its legal officials and not the authority of individuals or <>groups.

2. In delivering objections over the existence of Ahmadiyah activities, people are expected to again and again pay more attention to peaceful and elegant ways.

3. Calling on all Muslims to be able to study Islam comprehensively to avoid any misunderstanding and error in interpreting religious teachings.

4. The government is expected to take stand firm and be consistent in dealing with the existence of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia.
