Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor) of Subang District, West Java, will deploy dozens of their members to secure the Christmas celebrations in the region on Sunday (25/12).
“We have 30 members of Ansor Multipurpose Front (Banser) to secure Christmas celebration,” said Head of GP Ansor Subang District Asep Alamsyah Heridinata on Wednesday.
Dozens of Banser personnel, according to Asep, will be stationed at a number of churches with high levels of risk. “Especially Churches in Subang city, Pamanukan, and Pusakanagara,” he was quoted by Tempo.co. as saying
Banser members have coordinated with Subang Police Resort. “They will be posted to support the police,” Asep said.
Banser’s involvement in the Christmas celebrations is the tolerance practice in order to maintain harmony between religious groups.
“I think some of our Muslim brothers in minority areas usually feel the discomfort in conducting their worship. By doing the securement, we emphasize the importance of tolerance in this country,” Asep said.
Subang Police Chief, Comr. Yudhi Sulistiono Wahid appreciates Banser’s move. “It’s a very positive step. Especially considering it as to preserve differences and tolerance,” Yudhi concluded. (Masdar)
