Yogyakarta to host carnival, mass prayer to remember Gus Dur

Yogyakarta will hold an all-day-long carnival and mass prayer to mark the 100th days of former President KH Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid’s demise on Saturday.
Events coordinator Munir Che Anam said Thursday around 4,000 artists would take part in the carnival, which will start at 2 p.m.<<>;br />
Newly elected Nahdlatul Ulama chairman Said Agil Siradj, Yogyakarta Governor Hamengku Buwono X and pop musician Ahmad Dhani are expected to attend the mass prayer, he added.
The carnival will be held along the sultanate city’s thoroughfare Jl. Malioboro, while the mass prayer in the Alun-alun Utara square, Munir was quoted by tempointeraktif.com. (dar)
