To reward 3 NU figures and the best 4 websites

The celebration of the 84th anniversary of the country's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama and the 4th one of the official site of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), NU Online would reportedly be held at the Jakarta's Acacia Hotel on Tuesday.

The anniversary would be celebrated by rewarding three NU figures who have so far devoted themselves to the development of information technology within the community of the Nahdliyin based-organization and rewarding the best 4 NU and pesantren-affiliated web sites.<>

The organizing committee chief Suwadi D. Pranoto said the awards for excellence to the three NU figures was part of the NU gratitude for their commitment in developing information technology within the NU community and Islamic boarding "pesantren" school.

Asked about those who will receive the prestigious grant, Suwadi did not want to immediately give an explanation.

Suwadi explained, the appreciation was also related to the effort of the three NU inspirational persons in making use of information technology in evolving studies on astrology (falakiyah) and empowering rural areas as the basis of Nahdliyin.

While, the appreciation to the best 4 NU NU and pesantren-affiliated web sites is selected from more than 20 ones fulfilling requirement/criteria. They are from institutions, committees, autonomous bodies of the Nahdliyin-based organization and from Special Branch Boards throughout the world.

The criteria is based on technical considerations such as graphic design, properness standards, security, ease of navigation, internal search engine, and so on.

The editor in chief of the NU Online news portal, Abdul Mun'im DZ said the rewards should be considered as part of the PBNU appreciation in terms of the development of information technology within the Nahdliyin community and pesantren.

Formerly, exactly on 8-9 August the official site of the PBNU held a workshop for NU devotees and experts of information technology at the Jakarta's Sofyan Hotel. The forum then set up such an organization so-called as Nahdlatul Ulama Information Technology Community Network (Jarkitnu). The forum is aimed at gathering devotees and experts of the nahdliyin-based organization. (nam)
