The secretary of the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P) faction in the House of Representative (DPR), Tjahjo Kumolo, here Tuesday warned President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono against violating the Constitution and other laws in responding to the House`s request for his personal clarifications about Indonesia`s stance on the UN Security Council resolution on Iran not long ago.

"The president must be present at the Parliament and personally answer House members` questions in accordance with the latter`s interpellation right," Tjahjo Kumolo said commenting on strong calls among the public that Yudhoyono should be present at the DPR for a question-and-answer session with House members<>.

Tjahjo Kumolo said that to him and other politicians, President Yudhoyono would do a wise thing if he came to the DPR to unswer questions on various problems, especially in relation with Indonesia`s support for the United Nations Security Council resolution on Iran`s nuclear development program.

The PDI-P legislator said the House`s interpellation right was in accordance with its mandate set forth in Aricle 20A of the 1945 Constitution and the Law No.22/2003 on its composition and position (Susduk).

"Everything about the House`s interpellation right has been regulated in articles 12 and 174 of Law No.22/2003 and therefore it is legitimate," Tjahjo Kumolo said, adding that the problem now was whether the president would abide by it or not. (ant/dar)
