President to seek "justice" over A`lian media reports

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he would exert all his rights "to be treated justly" following two Australian media reports suggesting he was involved in corruption and had abused power.
In remarks opening a cabinet meeting here on Monday, the president said he would not be too reactive and emotional in responding to the Ausrlaian media reports citing Wikileaks disclosures of secret cables from the US embassy in Jakarta to Washington.r />
"We need not continuously get involved in the row about it as we still have more important things to do. I would not want to be too reactive and emotional. You know my inclinations. After everything is digested with a clear and logical mind while continuing to carryout my duties as head of state and nation, I will use all my rights be treated justly in a democratic way," he said as quoted by Antara.
President Yudhoyono did not explain in more detail what he would do to deal with the matter.
He said the world would eventually see for itself who had really been democratic and who had not.
"Certainly it will be known who is really democratic and who is not. It will be known who they are who like to report, accuse or take laws into their own hands through the media, in diplomacy that have hurt one`s reputation," he said.
President Yudhoyono pledged he would settle the case which he considered a character assassination effort by prioritizing the interest of the nation and the country.
"Believe me. I will be responsible for what I am doing. God willing I will maintain my integrity because that is my task as the country`s leader," he said.
President Yudhoyono called on the ministers to keep concentrating on their jobs fully and carry out all the policies and programs that had been set before despite all the political dynamics at home and at international level.
"That is important so that the problems faced by the nation could be overcome. The problems are indeed sometimes very complex but believe me all the policies and programs that we have made and all steps that we have taken would give good results if carried out well," he said.
President Yudhoyno on Friday, March 11, had held a special meeting to discuss the reports carried by Australian newspapers The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald that accusing him of having been corruptive and abused power. (dar)
