Police instructed to be strict against violent organizations

National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri instructed his subordinates on Tuesday not to  hesitate to take strict actions against mass organizations which tended to disturb security.

“There is no need to hesitate any longer for the officers to take strict actions on the field,” Bambang said at the Presidential office in Jakarta as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.<<>br />
A number of mass organizations have been on the spotlight for frequently conducting violent acts. The police in a hearing with members of the House of Representatives on Monday disclosed at least the mass organizations did violent acts in every 10 days.

The police chief said revision of existing law on mass organizations still needed time and arduous process. While the revision is being prepared the police promise to maintain order. “The police try to give protection as quickly as possible,” Bambang said. (dar)
