Internal conflicts of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the last few years have disturb the unity of NU followers (Nahdliyin) who are also the constituents of the party. At this point, the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) will discuss the issue at the NU 32nd Congress which will be held in Makassar, on 22-27 March.

Chairman of PBNU Ahmed Bagja made the statements here Thursday, saying the PKB internal conflicts had apparently given negative impacts to the <>Nahdliyin.

"The conflicts have damaged the brotherhood (ukhuwah) of NU followers. There has been a very big Impact still felt (by NU followers) in the last few years. Through the NU highest forum, PBNU will soon make the NU decision dealt with the PKB," Bagja said.

According to Bagdja, one of NU general chairman candidates, there are two options that may be taken related to the party. First is improving as well as managing the party and restore its function as a political wing; second is ending a relationship with the party.

Bagdja himself hoped the first option will be taken. Instead, if the party could no longer be improved, a firm measure is a must that will be taken by the Nahdliyin-based organization. All this, he said, was solely for the the unity of NU.

"PBNU should firmly take a measure to prevent any possible influence of the PKB conflicts that can damage the integrity of NU," he said. (min)
