General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama, KH Hasyim Muzadi said here Tuesday that he couldn’t give further arguments over the absence of president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in today’s interpellation session of the House of Representatives.

“This (interpellation session) has not finished yet,” Hasyim said, adding that the session was rescheduled to give Yudhoyono chance to attend the session requiring him to explain the Indonesian support to the UN resolution on nuclear issue next week.<>

The session was postponed because of interruptions of many legislators soon after House speaker Agung Laksono opened the session. They debated whether they continue the meeting without the presence of president Yudhoyono.

House leaders invited chairmen of factions in the House to discuss the deadlock. Later Agung announced that the session was rescheduled as demanded by many legislators.

During the session, the president was represented by seven ministers including Coordinating Minister for Politics, Legal and Security Affairs Widodo A.S., Coordinating Minister for People's Welfares Aburizal Bakrie, State Secretary Hatta Radjasa, and Foreign Minister Hatta Radjasa.

When the session took place, Yudhoyono met with East Timor or Timor Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, who is on his first foreign visit to Indonesia in the Merdeka Palace. (rif)
