Human Rights Commission Visits Alas Tlogo

A team from the National Commission for Human Rights led by the commission’s Deputy Chairman I, M. Ridha Saleh, visited Alas Tlogo village, Lekok District, Pasuruan Regency, East Timor.

According to Ridha, their visiting to Alas Tlogo was for deepening the system and of the shooting by the marine officers who killed four Alas Tlogo villagers on May 30 last year.<>

In addition, they will meet with the Military Prosecutor to question the military court’s plan to try the 13 marine officers, the suspects in the tragedy. The Human Rights Commission will also meet with the team for the East Timor Regional Police’s forensic laboratory to obtain the forensic test results.

“We also want to deliver the output of the plenary session some time ago,” Ridha was quoted by Tempointeraktif as saying. The session’s result concluded to extend the term of the Alas Tlogo team to two months and to build up the allegation of severe human rights violation in Alas Tlogo. (dar)
