Jakarta, NU Online
The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) will invite figures and ulema (Muslim scholars) from the Islamic world at a conference in the Jakarta's Sultan Hotel on 19-20 December 2009 ahead.

In the world forum, NU will propose the moderation concept in dealing with hardline groups in any conflicting Muslim countries.<>

Hasyim told reporters here on Wednesday that there had been many hardline groups committing violence in the Islamic world.

Reportedly, there will be some 100 ulema and Muslim scholars participating in the conference. They are from such countries as Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Malaysia, Palestine, Jordan, Thailand, Singapore and the Philipines.

Hasyim was of the opinion that the countries invited in the conference were the ones hardline groups have lived in.

"NU will give its ideas on how the process of moderation will be conducted in combating the hardline groups. For example between Shi'ite and Sunni in Iraq, Hamas and Fattah in Palestine, Taliban and hardline groups in Pakistan and among hardline groups in Egypt," Hasyim said.

The World Muslim Brotherhood Conference will be organized by the International Conference of Islamic Scholars (ICIS). The forum will take a theme ”Tahqiq al-ukhuwwah wa wihdah al-ummah al-islamiyyah”. (nam)
