Committee to complete materials for congress

The Organizing Committee of the NU 32nd Congress has completed all materials that will be discussed in a momentous event of the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

Secretary of the committee Taufuiq R Abdullah recently said that all the materials would be brought to a plenary meeting of the executive board of the Central Board of nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) for approval.<>

"The materials will be brought by the organizing committee chief to the lawmaking body (syuriyah) and the executive (tanfidziyah) of PBNU to expectedly be stipulated as official materials for the congress," Taufiq said.

The plenary meeting has been held from Tuesday (9/2) to Wednesday (10/2) and taken up matters dealing with the preparation of congress which will reportedly be held in Makassar on 22-27 March ahead.

Following the approval, taufik said, PBNU would soon send the official materials to all participants of the much-awaited event, comprising all provincial, regency-level boards including special branch boards in overseas countries.

Taufik added that the materials were very important for participants so that they would expectedly have more understandings and prepare themselves in the coming congress.

The deputy secretary of PBNU also explained that the congress would be participated by some 33 NU regional boards, 484 branch boards/special branch boards, saying each of the last two boards would send 5 delegates.

The congress will take place at the Makassar Hajj Dormitory and its opening ceremony will be held at the Celebes Convention Center which will reportedly be attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and prominent ulema (Muslim scholars) around the world. (dar)
