The Blitar's Indonesian Ulema Council has recently investigated a group of people in Mbiluk village, Ngaglik, Srengat, Blitar for being accused of propagating misleading teachings.
Information collected by the MUI states the sect calling itself as Padange Ati (PA) has allegedly put aside religious laws (sharia) having been recognized by the government, especially Islam.<>
The MUI said that there were some of its followers who have formerly embraced Islam had now ignored the importance of prayer and even considered the doctrine of performing prayer five times a day as ways of Muslims whose no understanding on religious sciences.
Sectretary of the MUI Achmad Su'udy said that the Padange Ati had routinely held religious gatherings in a house of one of its followers, Jono (48) who allegedly has connection with another deviant sect, Aliran Masuk Surga (AMS) led by Suliyani from Jajar, Talun, Blitar.
Su'udy further explained the Padange Ati emerged in 2007s as part of evolving and spreading the teachings of AMS, adding that in addition to ignoring the significance of Islamic teachings, the followers of such sects as Padange Ati and AMS were students of Sluyani.
Su'udy said that the sect consisting of some 25 followers, based on the MUI investigation, had gone against religious tenets and "the teaching it propagates is the same as that of the Suliyani-led AMS." (min)
