NU signs MoU with three ministries

The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three ministries at the NU headquarters on Thursday. The ministries are the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, and the Ministry of Communication and Information.

The chairman of NU KH Said Aqil Siroj asserted the three ministries was very strategic for involving NU and its followers (Nahdliyin) to develop and improve the economy of the community and work together to build the dynamics of good information in the digital age as it is now.

According to Kiai Said, building a mental revolution and integrity is always easy if involving the Nahdliyin for being familiar with the attitude of honesty and respect for one another to build the integrity of the nation as a whole.

"Building the nation's integrity has been carried by the NU clerics (kiai) in various remote areas. They also have played an active role in building the national economy by reviving market, setting up cooperatives, and continuing to deal with radicalism and false rumors or hoaxes in cyberspace," Kiai Said said.

The statements made by the leader of Pesantren Al-Tsaqafah Ciganjur, South Jakarta were directly related to a number of points of cooperation signed by both the NU and the three ministries.

He hoped that this cooperation could also overcome a number of problems, especially in the field of agriculture by providing various financing facilities for farmers across Indonesia.

Present at the signing were Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga, and the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Rudiantara via video teleconference because he was on duty in the city of Jayapura, Papua.

Also present at the occasion were the Secretary General of NU HA. Helmy Faisal Zaini, Chairman of NU Robikin Emhas and Eman Suryaman, officials of NU institutions and autonomous bodies. (Fathoni/Masdar)
