Elected for second term, Ali Masykur proposed three agendas

Ali Masykur Musa reelected for the second term to lead Ikatan Sarjana Nahdlatul Ulama (ISNU) the association of NU scholars, for period of 2018-2013 in the second plenary session of ISNU Congress in Bandung, east Java on Saturday (8/25).

Cak Ali, his nickname, elected by aclamation after other candidate, M Nur Kholis setiawan, draw back his nomination. 

Alhamdulillah, plenary session running well although there were some suggestions from participants to accommodate more than one candidate. But finally, it could be acclamation. Hence, Doktor Ali Masykur Musa elected as chairman, then Nurkholis as vice chairman,” said chairman of the committee Lukmanul Hakim.

Cak Ali admitted that this trust was a moral responsibility. He commited to fight for Nahdliyin and develop nation and state.

“Because this aspiration and trust of Nahdliyin are priority in my life,” he said.

When he was asked about ISNU direction for five years a head, Cak Ali said, he would always headed ISNU on the path, namely to accommodate the interest of intellectuals, professionals, and scholars in NU community by increasing quality of human resources via education. At least, there were three agendas that would be fought for by ISNU in the future. 

First, increase the quantity of scholars to professor in the NU community. Second, create network among government bodies and business sectors, so that the members can take the role in its two aspects. 

Third, encourage the government to put Islam Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah as a viewpoint in every decision making, both in the regulation or implementation it in the development policies.
