The slogan has been such a creed for democracy activists to conduct a wide range of activities. They insist that the issue of pluralism constitutes both stand and principle. While those providing funds and setting up agenda make the pluralism as a means to hide racial discrimination they have committed.<>
The fact is revealed. In some advanced and democratic countries there have been many unfinished problems. Till now Australia, for instance, has still discriminated Aboriginal people that are regarded as the descendants of the continent. They have no rights to politics, education, health and appropriate life insurance. They can only live in vulnerable situations leading to an annihilation. This is a racial politics committed by British colony and recent Australian government. Some times ago Pope Benedict XVI visiting Australia reminded that imperialists had profoundly trapped the Aboriginal people into alcohol and drugs leading in turn to their dark future. The pope advised them to soon leave both the alcohol and drugs.
The apology offered by Australian prime minister is perhaps in a great time though it is not such an operational political policy. In addition, there have been cultural and psychological problems between white and Aborigines so the sufferings have so far been still experienced by the Aborigines. For losing their past, the Aborigines have not addressed their future. Till now there have been no concrete actions to help them be independence in dealing with their own problems and having rights to life, politics, and culture having been exploited since the era of colonization.
We should not accept the pluralism agenda on such a scale profoundly imposed by western countries for we Indonesians are absolutely more pluralistic and have almost no discrimination. The agenda has been imposed solely for the interests of colonial. Due to the program without any suspicion we have openly welcomed the presence of colonizers exploiting our country for we have no the principle of discrimination.
The principle has likely come to our political consciousness by implementing the principle of anti-discrimination. So in the decision making on foreign investment on article 6 as saying that the government would give the same treatment to both domestic and foreign investors. This means the government has ignored its responsibility as public servant and given all sectors to foreigners that can be considered as such a total transfer to colonial interests. For democracy activists have been trapped into the pluralism agenda the government then let the discriminative treatment and the government in this case has ignored its duties in protecting and making people prosperous.
Hopefully through the advanced civilization we are expected not to be able to do manipulations by turbo-charging actions and ignoring substances. There should be honesty so the actions taken including in developing pluralism would always take into account of their substances, namely the absence of racial discrimination in true meaning. In turn the world can live life in harmony without any discrimination and colonization. That is the importance for us to carefully view any program packages. We should know their motivation and background. Never be discrimination supporters for the unconsciousness of anti-discrimination activists. (Mun’im DZ)
