Jakarta, NU Online
Rais Aam (general chairman) of Lawmaking Body of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Sahal Mahfudz has expected the dismissed chairman of the People Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar to seriously help improve his party's internal conflict.

Kiai Sahal has also advised Muhaimin not to challenge the chairman of advisory council of the PKB KH Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid in his party's extraordinary congress that would reportedly be held in Jakarta.<>

The statement was made by the chairman of advisory council of the Central Java's PKB KH Subhan Makmun following his meeting with Kiai Sahal in his Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) Maslakul Huda, Pati, Central Java on Friday (25/4).

He (Kiai Sahal) said, Muhaimin should have such intention to improve PKB rather than challenge Gus Dur," he quoted Kiai sahal as saying.

As reported by detikcom new portal, in the meeting with Kiai Salah, Subhan was accompanied by scores of kiais (clerics) such as Azis Mansyur 9East Java), Mahfudz Ridwan (Central Java), Mukhlas Dimyati (West Java), Abdull Hayyi (Jakarta/Banten)

Formerly, Subhan and his entourage also met with the advisor (mustasyar) of the PBNU KH Mustofa "Gus Mus" Bisri in his residence in Rembang, Central Java.

According to Subhan, Gus Mus has also called on all cadres of the party to implement the party's guidelines.

The internal dispute within the PKB, the fifth-largest faction at the House, revolved around the dismissal of Muhaimin earlier this month at the request of Gus Dur, who is also Muhaimin's uncle.

The KPU has asked the two camps to settle the squabble before May 12, the final day of registration for parties intending to contest the 2009 legislative election. (dtc/rif)
