NU forbids money politics at IPNU and IPPNU Congress

The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has strongly forbidden any practice of money politics at the 15 Congress of NU Student Association (IPNU) and NU Female Student Association (IPPNU) held at Pesantren Al Hikmah 2, Brebes, Central Java on Saturday.

"I do forbid money politics at this congress because it will degrade your moral and the moral of NU," general chairman of PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi said on Saturday.<>

PBNU, Hasyim said, would take a firm stand against anybody doing the money politics and even not admit whoever the chairman or chairwoman would be.

"If there are legally found the practice of money politics, PBNU must have the courage to reject those clearly doing money politics," he said.

Hasyim expected his call to be obeyed by all congress participants. "All of you should also have the courage to reject if there were some doing money politics."

While the leader of Pesantren Al Hikmah KH Masruri Abdul Mughni called on all participants to be selective before giving vote to IPNU and IPPNU leaders in the future.

He was of view that a good leader was the figure who is quite representative and has capability and is not ambitious.

"Whoever is not ambitious to be a leader and considered representative, he/she is a good leader. Please choose the figure or cadre whose the criteria," Abah Mansur said. (rif)
