Tripoli, NU Online
General chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siradj said here on Tuesday that he would always uphold all NU traditions having so far been preserved by NU followers (Nahdliyin).

He pledged to fight against those willing to disturb the continuation of the NU traditions like recitations of tahlil and yasin including celebrations of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and so on.<>

NU Online's Faisal Hakim reported that Said even considered those willing to disturb the traditions were the same as perpetrators of terrorism.

Said stressed the importance of taking efforts in increasing religious understandings in society, saying such traditions had been maintained and preserved by Muslims in general and Nahdlyin in particular.

As for Said, terror acts might not always be in the form of suicide bombing and many other anarchic acts, even any attitude consciously arousing public fears like calling others heretics could also be considered terror acts. (nam)
