The position of general chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siradj (Kang Said) as national coordinator for religious deradicalization movement has greatly been appreciated by the international community.
Kang Said, accompanied by the secretary general of PBNU H Marsudi Syuhud, was specifically invited to take part in the International Meeting for Peace in Germany.
During his German visit, Kang Said would tour to such cities as Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin. Before returning to Indonesia, he was also scheduled to visit Belgium.
"God willing, my mission will be completed on 16 September ahead," Kang Said was quoted by chairman of Lajnah Ta'lif wan Nasyr (LTN) NU as saying via his SMS text message here on Monday (12/9).
While in germany, in addition to being one of speakers at the scholarly forum, Kang Said would meet with officials of Hanns Seidel Stiftung and the German government and was also scheduled to have talks with European Union Parliament and the Center for European Commission.
"(There will be) many which can be delivered by NU, including using the momentum to commemorate the 9/11 WTC tragedy," Suratno, chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Special Branch Board (PCINU) of Germany said.
While in Belgium, Kang Said would hold a meeting with the Istead University to discuss possible collaborations between the two parties. The position of Istead University is considerably very important in the context of European Union policies in Asia.
"Hopefully, this relationship brings benefits to the Indonesia people, especially NU followers (Nahdliyin)," chairman of lawmaking body of PCINU Syafiq Hasyim said. (enh)
